Threads to Filter Out Hidden Words from Your Feed
Adam Mosseri, Threads and Instagram head announced that they are launching a new feature on Threads that will allow users to filter out words and phrases from their feeds and mentions.
This will give users more control over the in-app experience with an option to hide posts with certain words or phrases. The new feature will automatically mute common words, phrases, and emojis that might be offensive to users. Users also have the option to add their own custom words and phrases in the settings instead of just preset filters. There is also an option to turn off this setting at any point in time.
When you turn this setting on, it will exclude posts with those words or phrases from your feed, search results, and profile view. Adam also confirmed that the feature would work for both “Following” and “For You” feeds.
Instagram started using the same feature when they started letting users filter out abusive words in comments in 2016. Later they extended the same feature to DMs.
This feature is a good way to remove junk from your feed that keeps coming your way.
Also, the app is testing the ability to mute notifications for interactions with your posts. As shown in the above image, users can hit the bell button on the top right corner to turn on or off the notifications for that particular post.
They are also trying a new feature that will let you choose who can quote your posts.
A couple of days back, during the earnings call, Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that Threads has over 150 million monthly active users.
