Apple Cuts Vision Pro Shipments as Demand Falls Sharply
Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple has reduced its order for Apple Vision Pro parts and assemblies. The cut in shipments indicates lower demand for Apple’s expensive headset.
When Vision Pro was launched, it was an instant success in the United States. Apple delivered shipments beyond their expectations. However, months later, it seems the company is gearing up for the lower demand for their headsets.
Apple-related supply chain source Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple has cut its shipment orders for the Apple Vision Pro in 2024 down to between 400,000 to 450,000 units. This is far below the market consensus.
Market consensus may not be an indicator of what the company was planning. Ming-Chi Kuo is seeing the disturbances in the supply chain. It is always better to overestimate the demand that falls short of the demand.
Kuo says that the supply chain survey indicates that Apple’s decision to cut orders before launching the headset in other countries means that demand in the US has “fallen sharply beyond expectations.” The lack of enthusiasm about the product in the US may have led the company to be more conservative in its expectations for the non-US market.
There is another speculation that Apple is expecting the shipments of Vision Pro to decline year on year in 2025. Well, only time will tell.
